| Comment | Jeff Wolfe submitted a 2001 cite from the minutes of the Libertarian Futurist Society. Keith Stokes submitted a 1992 cite from the cover of the program book for the 1992 convention "Contraception". Keith Stokes submitted a 1991 cite from Roberta Rogow's "Futurespeak". John Bunnell submitted a 1995 cite from lyrics by John Bunnell in "Xenofilkia". Jeff Prucher submitted a cite for the spelling "relaxicon" from a 1984 reprint in "slightly different form" of David Hartwell's 1982 "The Golden Age of Science Fiction is Twelve". We would like to verify this in the first publication. Fred Galvin submitted a 1957 cite for the spelling "relaxicon" from an editorial blurb in the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction
which credits Les Cole as the inventor of the term.
(Jack Chalker suggested that the term originated with Midwestcon (1966), though this was later disproved by the 1957 citation.) |
